We stayed at Lake Morena campground and started from here on day 3.
First night with ice on the tentThis is one of the first pictures I took that day and thought it was beautiful – that tree hardly had a chance next to that huge rock but it persevered – I took with me no matter what card you’re dealt, you can make it 😊Ok. I am doing it.Breakfast incl freshly brewed coffee North! The PCT signs are different every time and I like the variety of them We stopped under this bridge, filtered water for the next ten miles and dried our tents and socksThe trail is really beautiful I enjoy all the flowers and plants along the way We met this lady who’s doing the trail with her horse – she looked like a movie star so I asked if I could take a picture These beautiful people are “trail angels” setting up treats along the way for us hikers 🫶The had fruit and protein bars and electrolytes – even chap stick My hiking buddy Fish Head wanted to stay there 🤣They even put up chairs for us hikers – “true trail magic” as they say. You read about it before you start the trip but once you get there, exhausted thirsty and sweaty, this is a true oasis and feels magical indeed. They don’t ask for money in exchange but some accept donationsSomeone left this on trail 😍Beautiful trail all day long These views!!Another sign It’s 25 degrees but the sun is harsh so I cover up most of the day – this is only the beginning…After 12 miles, we made camp: Camp spot night #3This backpacker meal has over 1000 calories and 51g of protein 😆🫶There were about 12 tents here tonight, 10 of which were Durston tents (including mine) well done, Mr. Durston! (They make great tents)My tent in the middle, Fish Head and Holiday on either side of me, 3 kinda or Durston tents
Since it was already quite busy with tents, it took me a while to find an even spot to pitch my tent and as I went inside my tent to pitch it, it smelled like sh*t – and yes – someone had gone right there on the campground!! What an animal. We covered it up with a huge pile of leaves and I had to love my tent … on night 3! Well it’s a good learning, I’ll definitely look out for that in the future!
