Day 13: Miles 122 to 134.8

We started quite early – alarm at 5.30 and hiked when it was still cool. I felt sick again today. I guess my body is inflamed from all the processed food I am eating. I have a bump under my right food which is worrying me. It’s like a long worm under my skin. A deep blister? It hurts. We didn’t stop all day except at Mike’s to get water.

It was sunny and 30 degrees. I felt weak physically again and got sentimental, things from back home came up. It really hit me hard and I had to sit down and cry. Guess hiking all day for two weeks does that to you. I knew this would happen, so I let it happen and fell back and hiked alone for a while. It passed eventually after a few hours.

Kyler – whom I had met a few days earlier – joined us at our campsite – what an interesting guy – his trail name is nature wizard. I have his email and we might reconnect in the sierra further north in June. He is a bush crafting guide and wilderness teacher to kids from difficult families. He hikes in a quilt that used to be his grandpas.
