Day 25: Big Bear Lake to Little bear Spring Trail Camp (266.1 to 285.6)

Alarm at 6.45am, shower, breakfast got pick-up at our hotel by Trail Angel named Sandy Troutman. We have a twenty mile day

We hiked with Webcutter and Travis and it was one of the funnest days! I’m very happy we’ll be hiking with Webcutter tomorrow again.

Stats:

Steps: 41930 loop

Distance hiked: 19.24 miles

Ascent: 693m

Descent: 793m

Day 26: Little Bear Trail camp to Devils Hole (285.6 to 301.4)

Did not sleep well, very windy, woke up early.

Clean beige sand, light grey ginormous boulders, desert roses, pine forests and bushes all day.

Hiked with Webcutter most of the day and had a great time. Also found out he is a Trump voter. 🤪😳 He is still my friend, we had a good conversation about it. My first Trump-friend. I’ve tried to keep out it politics on trail and I’ve been very successful.

Highlight: saw a baby rattlesnake – screamed 🤪😂

We were camping right on the beach, it’s really beautiful, white sand, a bit windy, view of a gorgeous river.

Stats:

Distance: 15.9 miles / 26.59km

Steps: 36440

Ascend: 1688

Drying my coffee filter on my pole, Webcutter getting water, desert roses in the back (left) 🌹🌹🌹

Day 27: to Joshua Inn (301.4 to 314.3)

We started hiking and got to the Hot Springs around 9 o’clock. We stayed at the Hot Springs for 6h or so and had it to ourselves in the morning but I got really sunburned, but it was amazing. It was like the spa I needed after all the hiking. on the bridge I ran into an old hiking buddy, Iceman, again so we hiked together and went to the Joshua Inn.

I had a few beers and I didn’t sleep very well so I’m exhausted now, but it was fun because we were playing pool. I had a meatball sub so it was a good stop at Joshua. They had a shower, also very happy about that. 🥳

Day 28: 314.3 – 330.2

Woke up at Joshua Inn, was super tired, slept 4 h, had coffee with Iceman and Mark, went to the grocery store to buy cream for my sunburn, it hurt really bad last night, started hiking with Iceman around 8.30am. Hiked past Silverwood Lake which was beautiful. It was super hot and I was tired. Hiked to a group campground that you’re not allowed to stay but PCT hikers have stayed there before so we thought we would get lucky and ordered pizza. But a ranger showed up and laid down the law and said we couldn’t stay there. Webcutter never made it there. Then we had to hike in the dark after eating.

Day 29: 330.2 – 347.2 (17 miles)

Yesterday, was the first day my feet didn’t hurt. 17 miles don’t destroy me anymore. The first month is hard physically, the last 4 mentally, they said. Hard it was. Now my feet are fine?! We had little elevation. I am sure they will hurt again.

Woke up and hiked through the desert and some soft hills, mostly hiked with Iceman who i met again after not seeing for 3 weeks, I like hiking with him. He’s fun.

No blisters. Just very tired. Still don’t sleep well on trail. But the views are amazing and every day is an adventure despiste being tired and having the lowest Heart Rate Variability I have ever had. 😂🤪 it’s been on “Low” for weeks and my Harmon watch keeps telling me to rest and that I am “Strained”.

No drinking in Wrightwood. Well maybe a little bit. I am on vacation after all.

Day 30: 2 Snickers for breakfast (347.2 to 356.2) & day 31: zero in Wrightwood

Town day, and zero approaching wohooo. clean clothes!! Normal food!!! A real bed!!! A toilet!! Running water!! Fizzy drinks!! Cold beer!! Coffee with milk!! 🤪❤️☺️

We had an amazing cabin with a big porch and stayed with 8 people and made dinner together – walk food with fresh vegetables 🥰🎉🥳

Family dinner
Me, Roadrash and Fruit Loop 🫶

It is hard to believe that I have hiked 356.2 miles / 573.24 km. Schwerin to Stuttgart is only 561 km. Now the miles are flying by, especially on this last stretch from Big Bear Lake to Wrightwood, I was cruising. Little elevation and beautiful scenery. I love every day on this beautiful trail. And I don’t want it to go by so fast.

I have walked almost through Germany once. I don’t know how that would take google only 6 days. Guess I am slow after all 😂

Wait… what are you doing? And how long is the trail? If you are new here and wondering what I am up to, have a look at this post: https://carbonaraontour.com/?p=2248.

Day 17: Hardest and most beautiful day yet. (162.6 – 177.3) Days 20 – 24: Miles 209.6 to 266.1 Day 12: Miles 109 to 122 and lots of elevation
