Homer, Kachemak Bay and Grace Ridge Trail

After that amazing night, I’ll never forget at the campground with little sleep we drove to Homer – Halibut Fishing Capitol of the world, a recent Olympic gold medalist birthplace and one of the most iconic cities in Alaska.

Before that, We drove 10 min, had breakfast by this beautiful beach, with Mount Iliamna always in the back

Kachemak Bay
This water taxi dropped us off after over 1h ride across Kachemak Bay and several drop offs at other islands
We went south to north (the recommended direction) and were dropped off at south Grace
at the trailhead
Stoked for Another hike!
The few times we saw down to the bay
It started really nice 🙂
Then it got hard: ascent was incredibly steep
Beautiful wild flowers
Hiking into the fog like
We were in the fog while on the ridge most of the time
Not a good view …
But: Obligatory Kay Chocolate Chip Cookie on each summit
On the other side the view was better!
Clouds moved away fast! Yay
And soon they were gone!
We saw no bears despite leaving our bear bells at home and being reallly quiet but we saw this guy 🙂
Finally a good view!
We got picked up at Quarry Beach after 6h hiking and over 1000m up and down again 🙂
The waves were quite high so it was a wild ride across Kachemak Bay back to Homer Spit
