Lake Louise & Lake Moraine

August 4th 2024

We got up at 5.00AM to have coffee and drive the 40min to Lake Louise Park and Ride. We have a day ticket here today and plan to do a hike or two here.

The sunrise in the drive to Lake Louise was incredible

In about an hour, at 7 AM, we will try to get another last minute day pass for Lake Moraine and lake Louise for the day after tomorrow.

Update 13.26 PM we didn’t get a pass for the day after tomorrow. 😢

Lake Louise is every bit as beautiful as it looks like on pictures

We hiked up to the lovely tea house at Lake Agnes and had breakfast there. There was a little wait due to the public holiday (Banff is completely booked out) but it wasn’t too bad.

We then hiked the big beehive round with around 13km.

We took our time and stopped several times to master the 930m elevation. The views from the big beehive down towards Lake Louise were incredible.

Do you know what bird this is ?

The way down was less crowded and along the way grew many wildflowers

After lunch, we took the shuttle bus to Lake Moraine, the second iconic lake on this area:

I hiked up to rockpile to snap some pictures and we hurried to the bus to get back to Bilbo at the park and ride.

We then drove to our campground for the night in Banff.

Ready for the next adventure tomorrow 🤩
